Alopecia
Hair loss affects everyone; in fact, losing up to 100 hairs a day is normal. Losses greater than this can be life-altering for patients, and is termed alopecia. In men, hair loss usually manifests as bald spots, while women tend to notice that their hair is slowly thinning. As you age you grow less hair, hair is thinner and breaks more easily. Most hair loss is inherited, and is usually known as male pattern baldness or female pattern hair loss. However, poor diet, hair style practices (such as wearing tight braids, using heated styling tools, dyes, or pulling hair back too tightly), thyroid disease, autoimmune diseases, and many other disease states can cause alopecia.
Inflammatory skin conditions and autoimmune conditions.
With offices in Brentwood and Christian Northeast, Deluxe Dermatology offers a range of powerful hair loss treatments including topicals, prescription oral medications combined with injections of PRP that target and fight further hair loss and obtain hair regrowth. PRP works by increasing the blood supply to dormant follicles. This process helps trigger hair growth. As the follicles become active again, the hair grows back relatively quickly and the hair is noticeably thicker. The PRP injections themselves are very small and most patients find the treatment is easy to tolerate.
